Embracing our Heritage
Loon+Sturgeon’s vision is to reconnect with our roots and preserve the fabric of our indigenous language and culture.
My family holds great significance in my life. One of my biggest desires is to support my family in becoming self-reliant, which has been a motivating factor for me. Throughout my life, we have consistently come to each other's aid, even when facing our own challenges. This unwavering support is a defining trait of my late mother, father, and siblings.
Poverty is a state of mind. We are self-reliant, strong, and beloved members of the Anishinabek community. During the shutdown, I observed a remarkable behaviour in my children – they persevered, stayed motivated, and worked diligently towards their goals.
The creation of this website was inspired by my eldest daughter, Kye, who showed remarkable dedication to learning the original language of my late mother, Josie, who joined the spirit world in June 2020.
We at Loon+Sturgeon blend traditional art with contemporary design to create unique artwear that sings with the spirit of our indigenous roots. Join us on a journey of creativity and cultural expression and celebrate our indigenous roots in style.
